Open Studio + Demo using Gouache with Kris Peterson

I will be demonstrating how to us Goauche, pronounced gwash, it is most easily defined as an opaque watercolor. It contains a higher concentration of pigment and in larger particles, but shares the same binder as watercolor and can be used in the same manner.

Artists tend to think of gouache as a correction fluid for paintings but it's much more than that. Colored gouache can be used the same as watercolors but has a softer feel and is easily lifted and moved even after it's dry for a long period.

I use them in paintings to soften and smooth out blotchy areas and prevent blossoms, just to name a few reasons.  Below are some of my examples.
