Artist Statement
The paintings of Fran Mangino are a testament to her determination to clarify and to capture a vision informed by her life experiences, by both the measurable and the abstract.
Fran explores the mysterious terrain between what can be measured by physical senses and what can be perceived only by emotions. What influenced her was the vibrancy of transparent watercolors which best expressed her impressions. Fran went from using photographs in the studio to the excitement of plein air, sharing the character of each location as she finds it.
