Artist Statement

My paintings are created in transparent watercolor using no white or black paint. The white is the unpainted surface of the paper. Strong colors are built up of multiple layers of varying pigments. I use strong line and contrasting colors and values to create rhythmic patterns within a representative or slightly abstracted image.
