INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MARCH 6th FSWS WORKSHOP.

On an 11 1/2 X 14 1/2 sheet of taped down watercolor paper of 140 or 300 lb, draw the horizon in the same location as the image above.

In the area above that horizon line please put masking fluid in spots in the same pattern as the stars in the sky shown in the painting above. An easy way to save a brush is to slightly dip the wooden end of the brush

Into the masking fluid. And then spot it onto the paper. Some people might like to flick it on with a toothbrush. Do it whatever way is best for you. Be sure to create that “Milky Way” pattern with many many spots of masking fluid.

This should be done the day before the workshop. It takes too long to do that during the workshop.

I prefer Magic White Masking Fluid but you can use whatever you have.

In addition to masking fluid and the taped down paper you will need to bring the following:

Watercolor paints of the colors you see in the painting. Some of those are Thalo blue, cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, Payne’s gray, Sap green, Aliziron crimson, yellow ochre, and a violet. A variety of pointed watercolor brushes - it would help if you had a 2” brush to wet the paper but it’s not mandatory. A water container, paper towels, pencil, a sense of humor, and an exacto knife if you have one.

The class starts at 10:00 AM and ends at 12:30 PM and we will need the entire time to finish the painting so be early and prepared to start painting at 10:00 AM.

SMILE!! It will be FUN!!

Where:  First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1031 S. Euclid Ave, Sarasota

Class is in the long low building behind the Sanctuary.

Look for the room with the porch light on.

Cost:  $10.00 per person
